Gregory Shaporka

Gregory Shaporka, 81, of California, PA, died Friday, February 23, 2024.

He was born June 27, 1942, in Brownsville, PA, a son of Harry and Olga (Andras) Shaporka.

Mr. Shaporka was a teacher at Frazier Elementary School, where he retired after 30 plus years of service. He received his Bachelors and Masters from California University of PA.

He loved playing and watching golf, the Steelers, the Penguins, and the Pirates. He was an avid.

fan of “old movies” and jazz music. He was also a member of numerous organizations in the area.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jeane (Dwyer) Shaporka, second wife Kathleen (Jackson) Shaporka; brother Gary Shaporka (2018); sister Georgia Ann Shaporka (1953), and nephew, David Shaporka.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Dawne Crawford and her husband Ernest Crawford, Jr., of Brownsville, PA; two grandsons; Joel Crawford and his wife, Tosha, and Travis Crawford and his wife, Rachel; sister-in-law Jacquelyn Shaporka.

Friends will be received in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 4 to 8 pm, with Parastas will beginning at 7:30pm.

Funeral services will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, February 28, in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 222 Mary Street, Rostraver Twp. 15012,  with Reverend Fr. Stephen Gresh as celebrant. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Wednesday Morning.

Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
