Dr. Lorraine G. Vitchoff

Dr. Lorraine G. Vitchoff, 65, of California, PA died January 26, 2018.

She was born on December 8, 1952, the daughter of the Late John J. Vitchoff, Jr.  and Pauline (Harrison) Vitchoff.

Lorraine courageously fought cancer for 4+ years as she continued to be strong for her family and to contribute positively to her community and the youth who crossed her path.  

Those who knew Lorraine understand that she believed the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.   She had passion and courage as she fought for justice and exposed political wrong doings against people of all ages from all walks of life, especially children.

She loved to learn and to share what she learned; yet she was fastidious about assuring her facts were accurate and substantiated with credible sources, as do all legitimate scholars. 

The following organizations and societies are where Lorraine served and/or was recognized:   Academic Society of Alpha Delta Kappa, NJ Governor’s Advisory Board for Technology and Gifted Education, Washington Democratic Committee, Executive Board of the Washington Democratic Committee, Past President of the California Rotary, Past President California University Alumni Association Board of Directors, Member of California University of PA Foundation Board, President Atlantic County NOW, Board Member of the Atlantic County Women’s Shelter.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Vitchoff, and the love of her life Macho Mystique aka Johnny B. Goode, her American Quarter Horse.  She is survived by her brothers Pat Vitchoff (Terri), Dan Vitchoff (Leah), her niece Brandi Vitchoff Choros (Anthony), her great niece Emily Lynn Choros, Parke T Bongiorno II (Chrissy), and Ellie and Annabelle.

Family will receive friends in the Mariscotti Funeral Home, Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 2:00PM -4:00PM and 6:00PM-8:00PM and on Monday from 10:30AM until 11:00AM when funeral services will begin at 11:00AM.
