Grace Priscilla Bodnar Sakach, formerly of California, PA, was born October 28, 1926 in Daisytown to the late Michael and Ethel Bodnar. Grace was married to the late Frank Sakach, Jr, for 52 years with whom she raised three beautiful daughters. She was a 1944 graduate of California Area High School and worked for J&L Steel during WW II. Grace was a life-long member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church of Daisytown, until she took up residence at Canterbury Place in Lawrenceville where she attended church under the ministry of Rev. Gaea Thompson. Grace was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, The Hungarian Beneficial Society, and the Women’s World War II Service Club of Walkertown. She enjoyed music, dancing with her husband, crocheting, playing canasta, watching Jeopardy, and especially challenging her daughter Nancy to Scrabble on their regular visits. Grandma Grace always looked forward to visits from her out-of-state daughters and their families. Grace was sweet and a little spicy, much like the paprika she used in her delicious Hungarian dishes. She was well-known for her delicate pastries, especially Lady Locks!
Preceded by her in death besides her parents and husband are infant sister Ethel, and brothers William and Stephen. Grace is survived by her daughters Dr. Christine(Ronald) Leichliter, Chantilly, VA, Dr. Valerie Sakach (Harold) Thomas, Concord, NC, and Nancy Sakach, Pittsburgh, PA. Grandchildren,: Kathy, Rana, Jeff, Harold(HT), Vanessa, and Veronica, and greatgrandchildren Billy, Isabella Grace, Zachary, Layla, Osman, Danya, Veda Grace and Adele. She is also survived by beloved Godson Scott Bodnar of Sarver, PA and Goddaughter Colleen Isler of Brownsville, PA, special sisters-in-law, friends, nieces, and nephews.
Private entombment was in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
