Mr. Joel D. Klimoski, 75, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 in Doey’s House, Hagerstown, MD.
Born November 5, 1948 in Brownsville, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Leota M. (Shelkey) Klimoski
Mr. Klimoski was a graduate of Kiski Preparatory School in Saltsburg, PA with the Class of 1966. He later received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA in 1970 and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Mount St. Mary’s University in 1984.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1971-1974.
He and his wife, the late Eleanor A. (Behm) Klimoski, were married January 31, 1975 in Hagerstown, MD. They were together for over 45 years when she passed away November 18, 2020.
Mr. Klimoski was employed as an electronics engineer at Fort Ritchie, MD, DISA in Bailey’s Crossroads, VA and at Ft. Belvoir, VA. He retired in 2004.
He was currently attending services at the Waynesboro 7th Day Adventist Church and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fairview Ward, Waynesboro. He was a member of Acacia Lodge # 586 F & A.M., Waynesboro where he was a Past Master, Occoquan Lodge #310 A.F. & A.M., Woodbridge, VA where he was a Past Master, Lehigh Valley Day Lodge #813 F. & A.M., Bethlehem, PA, Friendship Lodge #84 A.F. & A.M., Hagerstown, MD, Ithiel Royal Arch Chapter #27, Hagerstown where he served at Past High Priest, George Washington Council #66 where he served as Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Eagles Club, Inc. of Waynesboro, American Legion Post #239 of Cascade, MD and numerous other local organizations..
Mr. Klimoski enjoyed golf and swimming.
He is survived by three children, J. Aaron Klimoski of Clearwater, FL, Jane C. Afshar and her husband, Todd of Omaha, NE and Hope Henicle and her husband, Guy of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Collin Lyle Afshar, Cora Henicle, Clara Afshar, Gavin Afshar, Finn Afshar and Silas Afshar; his siblings, Joseph M. Klimoski and his wife, Toni of Pittsburgh, Judith A. Casey of Pittsburgh and Joeta K. D’Este and her husband, Joseph of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, where a Masonic funeral will be held by the members of Acacia Lodge #586, just prior to the religious service at 2 P.M.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Tuesday afternoon, in the funeral home.
A second funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 8, 2024 in Mariscotti Funeral Home, 323 4th Street, California, PA. Burial with full military honors will follow in Horn Cemetery, West Bethlehem, PA.
