Larry Campbell Obituary

Larry Paul Campbell (50) of Washington, PA, will be dearly and sadly missed by all of those who knew him. He loved to spend time with his family, he was a son, a father, a big-brother, the protector of his “baby” sister, an uncle, and a really great friend. Larry was someone that you could count on, and a person who wouldn’t let you down. He would always be there for you, whenever you needed him, he was there for you, he was our big brother.

Larry Paul leaves behind one of his most cherished blessings; his son Larry William Campbell. He was extremely proud of his son, and the good grades he is earning in computer class. This man loved his son so much, that Larry William was his best friend.

Larry Paul was known to be a very compassionate and caring person, as he would gladly give someone the shirt off his own back. He was always eager and willing to sacrifice his own time, knowledge, and skills to help others, especially fix their vehicles. He was the “Jack of all trades” kind of guy. Larry Paul always loved and wanted a 1957 Chevy, in addition to this, he had a love for fast motorcycles. When Larry started riding, he rode a slow Honda Shadow. He soon quickly realized that little slow Honda Shadow just wasn’t going to cut it for him. He needed some power, and boy did he ever. Larry went out and purchased a Honda CBR900RR sport bike, man he loved that bike. That bike could fly, and he knew it!

Larry Paul was known as a man who doesn’t show too much emotion on amusement park rides. I mean Larry could be on the most terrifying ride known to man, and he would just sit there ready for any ride. By the way, I hope your laughing, because Larry would be, he thought it was hilarious. I want to think that when he was riding his CBR, underneath that motorcycle helmet, hidden behind the tinted glass, and the faint swishing sound from the small box of Nerds in his jacket pocket. I would really like to think that Larry had the biggest smile going on inside that helmet, I bet he was smiling from ear to ear.....I also bet if you listen really close you can just hear his excited laugh in the faint distance.

In addition, for his love of motorcycle riding with his family and friends, he enjoyed fishing, especially with his uncles and brothers, hunting, nature, photography, and detailing his car. Larry was the type of person who wouldn’t cut corners. He would put the strength, energy, and elbow grease into what was needed to get the job done, and get it done right. Larry was known to be a very hard, and reliable worker.

Larry Paul’s “get the job done right” attitude was especially shown in his skills at building model cars. He put so much time and effort into his models, even down to the tiniest of details. He was always known to be spontaneous, or enjoying a great laugh, and would often tease, or get teased, by his brothers, sister, and brother in-law. If things got a little too intense, and apologies needed to be made, Larry would respond with “it’s all good”.

Larry’s family was special to him, he knew the value of family. In his earlier days he would spend a lot of time with his aunts, uncles, and grandparents. You may have found him playing Bingo with his grandmother and aunts, or fishing with his brothers, and uncles. He loved his son, and his family so much! The man had the biggest heart in the world. Upon a recent trip to Kennywood, his niece who was sad and distraught because she lost her favorite key chain in the park. Larry, made it a point to take her to the gift shop, and he bought her a butterfly necklace. That’s the kind hearted and generous man Larry Paul Campbell was.

Larry Paul Campbell will be forever missed upon this earth.

There is something else Larry was known for, in addition to going to Church, he was known to always tell others about Gods Word, and The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

You see Larry Paul just like you and me, was born a sinner, and in need of Gods grace and forgiveness. We are all equal before God, we all have sinned and fall short of Gods glory, all deserving of hell. Sin has to be paid for, as God says, for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ. Jesus died as a sacrifice for the sins of His sheep, and when Jesus Christ hung upon the cross, the wrath of God was poured out upon His own Perfect Son, and God treated His own Perfect Son, as if He lived our sinful lives. As God says in 2 Corinthians 5:20 "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him". Jesus said "It is finished" willingly gave up His Spirit, was layed in a tomb, and on the 3rd day they rolled the stone away, and He had already risen from the grave. Then Jesus walked among His sheep for 40 days, and ascended into Heaven where He is seated on His throne at the right hand of God. God says, that every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

You see when God saves a sinner, and gives them a new heart, this is called being born again. Being born again is a requirement to enter Gods Kingdom, this is a miracle of God when He gives a person a new heart, a heart of flesh to love, and obey His commands. When you are born again, you will bow your knee and confess Jesus as Lord in this life. Ezekial 36:26--27, John 3

Christ loved his sheep so much that He was willing to lay down His own life for His sheep. Jesus didn't come to condemn the world, Jesus said the world is condemned already. He came to save the world from sin and eternal hell. There is only one way to God and that is through the atoning work of Jesus Christ upon the cross, as He took the full wrath that He did not deserve. He  alone is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory. Apart from the saving work of Christ, Jesus says that if you do not repent you will die in your sins in eternal torment, suffering Gods Wrath for eternity. Plead out to God for mercy and grace for Him to grant you repentance and to become a child of God.

Larry knew the consequences for sin and the eternal destruction that awaits all those who do not repent and believe in Christ Jesus. Larry knew this, and that is why he enjoyed talking about the salvation found in Jesus Christ, and he loved sharing Gods Word to others. He was a true blessing, a little ray of sunshine to all those who knew him in this dark, evil, and fallen world.

Larry was a kind hearted “old soul” who loved jamming to Oldies, loud and fast cars, and having a good time with his family. He will always be known for his infectious laugh, and infectious smile, because you couldn’t help but smile, when he was smiling at you.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace givento me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

~We all love you Larry Paul!
